This March, Strange Britain is partnering with the Penistone Line Partnership to bring back their popular Ghost Train event.
This year's Ghost Train will be a return trip from Sheffield to Silkstone Common. Passengers will enjoy stories, myths, legends, and ghost stories along the way, with a stop at The Station Inn for drinks.
Tickets are £22 and include train travel, though booking fees may apply.
The Penistone Line, running between Sheffield and Huddersfield, has a rich history spanning almost two centuries. Its early days were marked by accidents and tragedies, earning it the grim nickname "The Graveyard of the Railways" from a Victorian reporter.
This history has led to a wealth of ghost stories associated with the line. Ghost Train: Destination The Unknown features author and storyteller Adrian Finney, who will share chilling tales in a designated carriage.
These include stories of a ghostly policeman, a phantom train, a Victorian hoax, and a notorious figure from English folklore.
The event begins at 6:15 pm outside Sheffield Station by the Salmon of Steel statue. After boarding the train and travelling to Silkstone Common, passengers will disembark for an hour at The Station Inn.
The return trip to Sheffield will include more stories, arriving back at approximately 9:30 pm. Strange Britain believes this to be the first event of its kind on the national rail network and thanks the Penistone Line Partnership and Northern for their support.
Whether you're a paranormal enthusiast, a railway history buff, or you just want a unique night of storytelling? The Ghost Train event offers a fascinating experience.
