Gareth Malone is a fellow of the Royal Academy of Music where he studied with Janice Chapman and Jonathan Papp. He was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of East Anglia and Freedom of the City of London in 2010. n 2012 he was made OBE in the Queen's birthday honours for services to music.
