Taking place across outdoor spaces, pubs, bars and music venues, The Fringe brings hundreds of FREE events to the city centre and beyond, showcasing an incredible mix of genres, artists and grassroots talent.
Expect something for every taste, from emerging acts to established favourites, all set against the backdrop of a buzzing festival atmosphere.
The Fringe at Tramlines returns 24 - 26 July 2026
The Fringe continues in the spirit that the original Tramlines festival created, when it began as a free citywide music celebration in 2009.
Since the main festival outgrew and moved out of the city centre in 2015, Sheffield City Council and Sheffield BID have continued to host a free music stage in the city, while bars, pubs and restaurants have also continued to host their own free celebrations.
In recent years, The Fringe has steadily been gaining new momentum, growing in size each year to spread out to new venues and other areas, beyond the hubs of activity in the city centre and Kelham Island.
The Fringe creates a unique Sheffield festival vibe all of its own, serving as a showcase of the city's thriving grassroots music scene and DIY culture. Expect a wide variety of events covering all kinds of genres, with something for everyone- if you like live music, it makes for a great weekend exploring the city.

Fringe Stage
The Fringe Stage at Devonshire Green 2026
Get ready for a full weekend of music and entertainment, as Devonshire Green hosts The Fringe Main Stage - a FREE family-friendly area, with loads of live music, 24 - 26 July.
New for 2026, the Devonshire Green Main Stage extends across all three days, including a Friday evening opening programme.
Across Saturday and Sunday, the programme will showcase an eclectic mix of live acts, DJs and community performers that reflect Sheffield’s diverse and thriving grassroots music scene.
