Kate Josephs,
Chief Executive of Sheffield City Council

I am delighted that Sheffield will be attending UKREiiF for its third year in Leeds. It is our ambition to continue to drive our global reputation through placemaking, innovation, and investment. This year the city has hosted the 26th MOBO Awards, has been named Time Out’s UK Foodie Capital, and has been selected as the central government’s choice for the UK’s first Civil Service Policy Hub – we start the year as we mean to go on.

Global, Green and Growing.

We are committed to collaborating with the South Yorkshire Mayor to deliver the Investment Zone in the Region, leveraging Sheffield's assets and expertise in advanced manufacturing, health tech and life sciences.

Sheffield’s city centre regeneration is nearing completion, regeneration on a huge scale. A £470million re-imagining of what city centres need to be in the 21st century, led by Sheffield City Council.

Our successful partnerships have seen us move into the delivery phase with support from Homes England, a strategically based relationship which is intended to facilitate collaboration between landowners, private sector partners and the public sector with interventions deployed where necessary to unlock the delivery of thousands of new homes across the city.

Contact our Invest Sheffield team to start or continue a conversation: we’d love to hear from you.

At taste of what Sheffield will bring to UKREiiF 2024

World-class sporting facilities intertwine with state-of-the-art research and development infrastructure, creating an ecosystem where Olympic ideals converge with academia, industry and cutting-edge science and technology to deliver whole-population health and wellbeing improvements, as well as helping to drive the economic regeneration of the region.

Two brand new residential neighbourhoods in Sheffield city centre providing 1,300 new homes, have been handed a major, multi-million-pound boost from Central Government. Development of the proposals, which has been led by the Sheffield Together - Housing Growth Board, will now be able to support important land assembly and enabling works across the sites.

The government's Levelling Up agenda has recognised that future housing and regeneration delivery will require new ways of working and new long-term partnerships and approaches to create and capture value. During UKREiiF this May, Sheffield and South Yorkshire will explore the Sheffield Together Partnership and delivery of homes in the city, whilst tackling sustainability on their path to net zero and neighbourhoods place based approach.

Sheffield Annual Review 2023 Year 1 ISSUE

Sheffield’s city centre regeneration is nearing completion. An £800 million re-imagining of what city centres need to look like in the 21st century, led by Sheffield City Council.

To drive city centre growth further 20,000 new homes will be brought forward over the coming decade.

Having been awarded TimeOut's second best European City Break for 2023 it is unsurprising that the vibrant, cultural and creative offering continues to attract visitors, businesses and investors.

Sheffield will be welcoming insights from The Sheffield Property Association, which brings together a group of businesses committed to improving the cities built environment. The association promotes and celebrates Sheffield, connecting land owners and development businesses with stakeholders and partners driving investment, opportunity and prosperity in the city. A private collective network working in partnership with the public sector to drive regeneration.

The South Yorkshire JESSICA fund provides effective development debt funding for commercial property and regeneration projects in South Yorkshire at commercial lending rates.

Since the Fund’s inception, assets totalling £188m of value have been enabled using SY JESSICA and associated funding, through recycling of capital. This has drawn in and leveraged more than £84m of private-sector capital, much of which would not be invested in the region without the Fund’s flexible investment approach.

The UK’s First Investment Zone

Communities in Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster and Barnsley are set to benefit from thousands of new jobs and £1.2 billion of investment as part of the UK’s first Investment Zone.

Building on the area’s strengths, the South Yorkshire Investment Zone is focused on Advanced Manufacturing and includes the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University. It’s expected that the Investment Zone will help leverage more than £1.2bn of private funding and help support more than 8,000 jobs by 2030.
