Although an individual pursuit it is best enjoyed with others, sharing the delights of two wheels over any terrain. In Sheffield, there is a strong mountain biking community, brought together through a love of bikes with a handful of groups making things happen in The Outdoor City.

A brilliant city for that long-needed weekend away with your mates, Sheffield's size means there's loads to go at, but it's not so big that getting around becomes a mission - plus as The Outdoor City there's tonnes of adventure to be had.

Sheffield confirmed to host International Stillbirth Alliance Conference in 2023

Sheffield has won the bid to host the annual International Stillbirth Alliance conference which will see 300 delegates from all over the world gather in the city across three days, 30 June - 2 July 2023.

Carbon neutral by the end of the next decade

Sheffield is committed to becoming carbon neutral by the end of the next decade. We've committed to shortening our original target by 20 years, declared a Climate Emergency, and announced a citizens’ assembly to help collaborate on finding the best ways to address our problems.

Grobotic Systems Case Study

Alexis Moschopoulos came up with the idea for Grobotic Systems as an academic in the field of plant science. He felt the that the expensive and inefficient equipment he had to use to grow plants for experiments was holding back progress in his field. After several years of discussion and experimentation with his friend Richard Banks, an electronics engineer and maker, the pair founded Grobotic Systems in 2018.

Sheffield’s 70 million New Era Square development gets ready to open

New Era Square at St Mary’s Gate features restaurants, street food kiosks, the city’s largest oriental supermarket and shops – all located around a modern public square with iconic panda art installations.

International delegates arrive in Sheffield for the 20th European Hair Research Meeting

Sheffield plays host city from 14-16 June for the 20th European Hair Research Society Meeting, held at The University of Sheffield Diamond Building.
