Greno Woods is an ancient woodland, rich in wildlife and full of historic interest. Covering 169 hectares, it is one of our largest reserves and offers excellent opportunities for wildlife watching, exploration and recreation.
The park is situated between Walkley Street, Daniel Hill Street, Harold Street and Burgoyne Road in Walkley.
South Street Park has an arboretum, or living tree collection, and a beautiful amphitheatre.
Wadsley and Loxley Common is an area of managed heathland in the North of Sheffield. It's principle use is by walkers.
Wardsend Cemetery has stood on its site by the River Don for the last 160 years. This cemetery is the last resting place of nearly 30,000 Sheffield and district people as well as military personnel from the nearby Sheffield (Hillsborough) Barracks. In the course of more than a century and a half, a wide variety of flora and fauna have also begun to call the cemetery home.
The spiritual home of UK climbing boasts the Tokyo Olympics replica wall and Team GBs training facilities for those wanting to push themselves, as well as The Mini Works - a dedicated centre for younger and beginner climbers - meaning you won't go wanting in The Outdoor City when it comes to indoor centres.
Low Bradfield is surrounded by four reservoirs. The closest of the four are Agden and Damflask, and the village is a great starting point for a picturesque waterside walk round one or the other – or both.
High on Derwent Edge, Dovestone Tor has a wilder feel than most crags in the area. The longer walk in, and the fact that the sharp, gritty rock can sometimes be green, mean that it’s rarely busy up here – a perfect place to escape the crowds on a dry, sunny day.
The Eastern Moors circuit has spectacular views with downhill sections that are fast and flowing - but it is suitable for all abilities.
From managed trails to gritstone heathland, there are challenges for both beginners and the more experienced. Whether on tyres or in trainers, the stunning views along this trail will make it all well worth the effort.
