The Fringe sees weird and wonderful performances in bars, clubs and venues (and the odd front room) right across the city. And here is your introduction to all of them.

Delicious Clam

Operating as a label, practice room and small gig space from their Castle Market headquarters, they fuel the fire of Sheffield’s alternative scene, and also explore new territories, from stand-up to brilliantly daft club nights.

Sheffield's running clubs and groups

Don’t let the hills fool you, Sheffield is the perfect place to run. With dozens of parks and pedestrian-friendly routes around the city, as well as world-class training venues like the English Institute of Sport, the facilities in the city are second-to-none.

Crookes Social Club

This social club in Crookes plays host to a variety of different music and themed nights, with a great eclectic crowd including students and local residents.

Climb - whatever the weather

If you climb outdoors you will always have one eye on the weather. A little local knowledge can help you find the right crag in and around Sheffield, and get a good day’s climbing whatever the weather.

The Blue Stoops

The Blue Stoops is a real treasure, celebrated for its friendly team, stunning interiors, range of drinks and seasonal menus that are full of locally sourced produce.

Cosy Club Sheffield

Corporation

Corporation is one of the top 3 live band venue and alternative music nightclubs in the UK and they’ve been generally gnawing at the coat tails of the establishment since 1997. Having been voted into the top 3 Rock Clubs in the UK by Kerrang and having won Best Club Night in the UK, for DROP on Friday nights in Metal Hammer.

Panke Social

An independent music venue and bar located on Exchange Street in Sheffield's Castlegate, the venue is known for its unique, DIY vibe and for hosting a variety of events, including LGBTQ+ socials, album releases, live music and DJs.

The Foundry

The Foundry is a 3 room club, music and event space inside the University of Sheffield Students' Union.

Plot 22

Plot 22 is a grassroots music venue and studio space situated in the heart of the Castlegate district of Sheffield in the old Castle Market.

Tank

Tank is Sheffield's underground house, tech & bass venue, putting on legendary nights (as well as the even more legendary annual Bassfest). They put on a number of regular nights and are based in the city centre.

Gut Level

Gut Level is a not-for-profit DIY music and community space. It’s important that everybody who comes here feels welcomed, comfortable, free to express themselves and ultimately, has a great time! They focus on dance music, club culture and the surrounding communities, and are based in a Grade II listed ex-cutlery works on Snow Lane in Shalesmoor.

Dryad Works

Dryad Works is a self-built community of creative individuals collaborating under one roof. Their mission is to build a unique underground DIY grassroots music venue & creative workspace that values creative arts, sound system culture and unique nightlife experiences.

The Lughole

The Lughole is a community/volunteer based performance space plus practice spaces that serves the underground/ alternative music and art scene in Sheffield.

Record Junkee

Record Junkee is a fiercely independent 150 capacity venue, bar and official chart registered record store situated on Earl St in the heart of the city. It embraces the inclusive ethos that bred the best acts from the city’s past. From original Bassline to Post Punk and back again; all styles are served as the store caters equally to the burgeoning collector and the old school vinyl head alike.

FORGE Warehouse

FORGE is an exciting music space and cultural hub that is a stone's throw from the heart of the centre of Sheffield. The building has been renovated into an immersive warehouse and multi-purpose events space that will host an eclectic programme of global and local acts, events and experiences.

West Street Live

West Street Live is a late night, live music venue and bar in Sheffield, open 7 days a week.

Sidney & Matilda

Where Brooklyn meets Berlin in Sheffield's creative quarter. Sidney and Matilda is a warehouse, basement, and courtyard orientated music and event venue, that has shined new neon red light on an abandoned industrial district.

Forum Kitchen + Bar

Forum has been one of Sheffield's iconic venues since 1992! Situated right in the heart of the city centre next to Devonshire Green, this iconic bar and kitchen it is the perfect spot for socialising, seven days a week.

Yellow Arch Studios

Once an Edwardian nuts and bolts factory, Yellow Arch is a creative complex in Sheffield's industrial heartland, which has been providing a unique blend of music production and live performance since 1997. The venue hosts a diverse range of events throughout the year and is known for embracing music and performing arts from all genres.

The Cremorne

The Cremorne, London Road, is an early nineteenth century pub. As a former coaching house, the pub features a gated archway to the side and more buildings to the rear. A busy, friendly pub at the heart of London Road with a great range of real ales and drinks as well as fab pizzas.

Hallamshire Hotel

Following an extensive refurbishment, the team behind beloved music pub The Washington have reopened The Hallamshire Hotel on West Street.

The Greystones

The Greystones is a welcoming, traditional community pub where people of all ages can enjoy a great range of drinks in comfortable surroundings, as well as see fantastic music and other events.

The Four Leaf Irish Bar & Kitchen

Founded in 2024, The Four Leaf Irish Bar & Kitchen bring a new approach to the pub scene but their knowledge of Irish craic is ancient. They are dedicated to bringing the heart and soul of the Emerald Isle to every pint of Guinness they serve.

Bamboo Door

Sheffield’s First Tiki Bar was born in April 2014, but it's constantly evolving as they find (and get given by customers!) more and more tiki artefacts from around the world. The cocktail menu is always being revised, but if you fancy something different just ask the tiki monkeys and they will guide you to your perfect drink!

Historic Leah’s Yard set for revival as creative hub for independent businesses

With a spectacular courtyard set in the backdrop of Sheffield’s industrial heartland, Southbank Warehouse has a an incredible space with room for up to 500 people.

Toolmakers Live

Tool making became music-making. Established in 2011, Toolmakers Live started as a love for live music and wanting that music to be shared with everyone who wants to listen.

Matt Begley took over the Walkley Cottage in December 2020: bad timing, some might say, especially for his first time running a pub.

FirePit Rocks Bar and BBQ

Public

Occupying the former gent’s toilet below the grade-1 listed Victorian town hall, Public is a stunning little haven of fine drinks and delicious food - or as it was once described: "...Wes Anderson train carriage crowbarred into an old bog".

The Green Room

One of Sheffield's many independent bars on Division Street in the centre of town, The Green Room is a weekend staple but with plenty happening in the week too. Great drinks, food and music, in a laid back atmosphere.

The Washington

The Washington is one of the spiritual homes of Sheffield’s music scene. Through the years they’ve all passed through; drinking, performing and perhaps even working behind the bar. From the glory years of The Limit when Pulp would meet there, to intimate gigs from Wet Nuns, The Washington has seen it all - and you will too if you visit.

Trippets Lounge Bar

The only Jazz bar in Sheffield offering live music and an excellent gin bar.

Mr Wilson's & Capone's Speakeasy

Whether you’re looking for an evening of contemporary luxury, or wanting to head back to the 1920s, Mr Wilson has prepared something for everyone.

Maida Vale

The prestige of McLaren choosing our city is humbling and speaks for itself, but importantly for Sheffield it has also created approximately 200 jobs and will provide an estimated £100 million of GVA (gross value added) benefit to the local economy by 2028.

Europe's largest purpose-built food hall, Cambridge Street Collective opens in Sheffield

The newest chapter in Sheffield’s story as a thriving food destination – this venue is way more than just another food hall, complete with dedicated BBQ, sushi and counter-top dining spaces, four vibrant bars, AR Darts, children's play area and outdoor rooftop terraces, while also incorporating a cookery school and community kitchen.

ERF - Street Art

New street art is a fantastic way to add vibrancy to an area, showcase local artistic talent and reflect the local community. New pieces of art can be a real talking point locally (and beyond) and give a real sense of place – contributing to community enjoyment of spaces.

Church - Temple of Fun

Owned by Oli Sykes, frontman of band Bring Me The Horizon and a passionate vegan, Church is a 100% vegan bar and restaurant in Kelham Island, housed in the historic Osborn Works.

Factory Floor

An industrial oasis hidden away within a cobbled courtyard, in Sheffield's Neepsend. Their unique drip-infusion system derives from a traditional Japanese coffee filtration method, infusing spirits and liqueurs over 12 hour periods, to create a wide array of unique flavour combinations.

Kapital Beer Hall

Sheffield's biggest modern beer hall and restaurant.! Kapital celebrates Europe’s rich beer culture, championing the iconic beer cities of Brussels, Munich & Prague while also honouring Sheffield’s own prolific brewing heritage.

Piña

A lively party spot with Mexicana vibes, Piña owner/founder Joe experienced first-hand the amazing cuisine and culture on a Mexico trip back in 2016, and just had to bring it back to Sheffield. So, expect plenty of (high quality 100% agave-based) tequila, mezcal and, of course, delicious tacos.

Hagglers Corner

A community of 14 independent businesses, nestled around a vibrant courtyard & mezzanine, Hagglers is a bit of a Sheffield institution, with a café by day and vibrant bar by night.

Peddler

Based at 92 Burton Road, Peddler Market showcases the very best street food from across the UK on the first Friday & Saturday of every month. Expect an ever-changing line up of truly mouth-watering traders, alongside top-notch craft beers, freshly made cocktails, live music and art.

The Cross Scythes, Totley
