The art of climbing

Sheffield inspires the development of one of the fastest growing sports in the world. From the roots of UK rock climbing in the 1880s, through to creating the routes for the inaugural climbing event at the Olympic Games 2020. Rivers and Hills

Sheffield graphic artist, Rob Lee, has collaborated with prolific street artist INSA to create an ambitious new artwork for Sheffield. Combining the collective force of their signature styles, they have completely transformed a drab brown-brick facade with an homage to the city's natural topography.

Sustainable aviation fuels to be driven by new Boeing and University of Sheffield partnership

Sustainable aviation fuels which will reduce the carbon emissions associated with flying will be driven by a new partnership between Boeing and the University of Sheffield. The leading aerospace company has signed a new research partnership with the University, becoming the founding member of the Energy Innovation Centre, a new Research & Development scheme to develop new low carbon technologies.

ERF - Spotlight On

The Economic Recovery Fund (ERF) ran between February 2021 and April 2025. It was a unique, innovative grant fund that aims to support local economic recovery in local high streets by empowering local groups of businesses to implement changes themselves.
