Wild Play May half term

26 May 2026 - 27 May 2026

Do you love playing and exploring outside? This May, participants will be getting creative in the woods with a range of artistic activities, including berry painting, crafting with sticks and leaves, as well as the usual games, exploration and fun.

The programme is also part of the Children’s University.

These Wild Play events are ideal for children aged 3–9. Younger siblings may attend for free with a paying child; however, they are not expected to participate, as the activities are not designed for their age group. Tickets only need to be booked for participating children, but adults must attend as well.

Although the sessions take place in the woods, attendees are asked to leave dogs at home where possible.

What to expect: The event lasts two hours and includes a short walk. It takes place entirely outdoors in all weather conditions, so participants should come prepared for woodland (and potentially muddy) environments. The woodland is not fully accessible and involves crossing a small stream with steep, muddy banks. This is not recommended for prams, although it may be possible if essential. Visitors are encouraged to get in touch for further clarification if needed.

The group aims to set off promptly, so attendees should arrive on time to avoid missing the start.

Booking a ticket is essential to attend the event.

Facilities and parking: Public toilets and a car park are available at the Discovery Centre. If the car park is full, visitors are politely asked not to park on roadside verges along Abbey Lane. Instead, parking is available nearby on Whirlowdale Road, followed by a short walk to the entrance. Attendees should allow a few extra minutes for this.

For any enquiries, please call 0114 263 4335 or email playwild@wildsheffield.com.

Refund policy: Refunds may be granted up to 7 full days before the event start date.
