This Is Us: A Free Community Arts Celebration and Exhibition
This Is Us is a free community arts celebration and exhibition at Showroom Workstation on Sunday 8 November. Visitors can drop in any time from 1:30pm to 8pm.
Since the summer, young people and families across Burngreave, Fir Vale, Firth Park and Longley have been making art about where they live. The celebration brings it all together:
- a mixed-age breaking showcase from the Industrial Elements crew
- the story of two new twinned murals by Marcus Method and Leigh Redhead (Trik09, 09 Murals), one of them on Brown Street, a short walk from the venue
- giant willow and paper lanterns, shadow puppets and sculpture made with artists Jo Veal and Patrick Amber
- a shadow-puppet workshop from 3:30pm
- an exhibition and film from the whole season
The event is free and open to all ages; children should come with an adult. A free ticket helps the organisers plan numbers, and walk-ins are welcome whenever there is room (the space holds up to 180 people at once).
The venue has step-free access via ramps and lifts and accessible toilets, and is a five-minute step-free walk from Sheffield station.
This Is Us is delivered by Sheffield City Opportunities CIC (SCO CIC) with local artists, funded by NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, with programme partner Voluntary Action Sheffield.
