Step inside one of Sheffield's most iconic civic buildings and discover the stories, treasures and hidden spaces of Sheffield Town Hall.

As part of Sheffield Heritage Open Days, this free family-friendly event offers a unique opportunity to explore the building's rich history through a range of activities* designed for all ages.

Visitors will get a chance to:

  • Discover hidden treasures in the Lord Mayor's Parlour
  • Explore family history records from Sheffield's past
  • See original building plans of Sheffield Town Hall from Sheffield City Archives
  • Learn about Town Hall history through Victorian and Second World War costumes with the Graves Youth Theatre
  • Follow a heritage trail and take part in a Town Hall quiz
  • Make your own Mini Mayor
  • Enjoy story time with the Libraries Team
  • Find out how Sheffield's traffic control team helps keep the city moving
  • Share ideas for the future of the Town Hall on our drawing wall
  • Visit the pop-up cafĂ© in the Silver Room

Throughout the day, the Sheffield Town Hall Ambassadors will be on hand to welcome visitors and share their knowledge of the building. 

You will also be able to share your ideas and get involved in shaping the future of this important Sheffield landmark.
