Whilst Bents Green has many trees, the shopping area is severely lacking in greenery. Trees would provide shade and shelter for students from High Storrs and Silverdale, and bring some colour to the area, making our high street a more welcoming place to spend time.
Burngreave is very tree-deficient overall, with a tree canopy cover of only 11% (the area goal is 36%). Trees outside schools, community or medical centres would bring many vital benefits to the community, such as cleaning the air, providing fresh oxygen, and offering shade in summer.
All 14 trees will add towards Sheffield's overall urban forest, making it a greener and healthier place to live for all.
