Acclaimed violinist Fenella Humphreys and her internationally renowned duo partner Martin Roscoe bring two of the best known works for their instrument combination, Beethoven's 'Spring Sonata' and Vaughan Williams' Lark Ascending (in its original version for violin and piano) evoking the seasons and the natural world and place them amongst other characterful works which explore every emotion, by well known composers and those deserving to be more widely performed.
Their programme includes 'Midsummer Moon' by Rebecca Clarke; 'D'un Matin de Printemps' by L Boulanger; Prokofiev's Five Melodies; S Coleridge-Taylor 'Ballade' and a new work written for the duo, 'Tracing' by Sally Beamish.
The 'dazzling and fresh thinking' Corvus Consort reveals how musicians and poets have regarded and drawn inspiration from birds across six centuries, though renaissance madrigals, traditional folk songs, 20th century British music and contemporary composers.
