Brush Making Workshop

16 Oct 2026 10:00 - 16:00

This is a one day brush making workshop, running from 10am - 4pm (ish). Held at a workshop in Persistence Works, 21 Brown Street, Sheffield, S1 2BS. Full arrival information will be emailed to you one week before the workshop date. Suitable for beginners, no previous experience needed.

You will learn how to make at least four (maybe five!) different brushes using arenga, tampico and broomcorn fibres. You can experiment with using different colours of nylon cord for binding and will be shown how to tie different styles of brush, such as the turkey wing or hawk tail designs. We will also discuss the history of brush making and the types of fibre that will use.

Please note that brush making is surprisingly physical, so you will need a reasonable amount of dexterity in your hands and feet, as well as good grip strength. If you have any questions about this, please do get in touch before booking. The workshop is on the first floor of the building, accessed by stairs or a lift.

You might like to bring some socks to wear as we will be working with our shoes off! Includes all materials and tools.

Adults only.

Please note that workshop bookings are non refundable and non transferable.

Prices

£150.00
