Big Strong Man

01 Oct 2026 19:30 - 21:45

A hilarious and heartfelt show exploring how to fix the mental health crisis, performing for one night only as part of Open Works Festival on Thursday 1st October. Four Northern lads are given the impossible task of fixing the men’s mental health crisis in one night. To do this, they need to change the Structure of Masculinity, a towering pyramid of beliefs, pressures and myths about what makes a ‘real man’. The problem? They can’t agree on what to do!

Winston believes we should be men again
Gaz knows we only need work, women, food and the gym
Bonj thinks we should burn down the system
Tim has realised they’re all idiots and would rather play Pokemon Go

Surrealist comedy comrades, The Growth House, invite you to a night of Poundland level extravagance, side-splitting comedy and electrifying performances. Featuring storytelling, song, dance, improv, boy band parodies, lip syncs, karaoke and a bear, Big Strong Man promises to be an unforgettable comedy night out.
