A Christmas Carol Previews at Sheffield Library Theatre

05 Nov 2026 - 06 Nov 2026

On Christmas Eve night, the miserly and cold-hearted businessman Ebenezer Scrooge embarks upon a journey through his past, present, and future, learning along the way to appreciate the true meaning of Christmas.

A theatrical festive treat for all the family, Dickens’ beloved tale of redemption is brought to the stage in an authentic and joyful adaptation from Operation Moonlight.

Join Operation Moonlight for two exclusive preview evenings ahead of their national tour of this festive classic.

Promotional image for A Christmas Carol. A person in Victorian-style clothing and a tall black top hat stands in a snowy, dark blue scene, holding a glowing lantern that casts warm light across the image. Snow swirls through the air and mist fills the foreground. Large gold lettering on the right reads “A Christmas Carol,” creating a dramatic, atmospheric festive theatre poster.
A performer in a flowing white costume stands centre stage with arms outstretched in front of a giant clock face with Roman numerals and cracked detailing. Bright beams of light shine from behind, creating a halo effect. Purple-blue stage lighting illuminates the scene, while artificial snow or glitter is scattered across the floor. The dramatic theatre set evokes a magical or ghostly moment from a period Christmas production.
Five performers in Victorian-style period costumes gather around a table on a theatre stage. One performer in a tall top hat and scarf stands at the centre with an arm around the group. Another sits in front wearing a flat cap beside a pair of wooden crutches. Metal tankards and a brown bottle sit on the table in the foreground. Warm stage lighting illuminates the scene, suggesting a festive or historical stage production.
Actor in period costume seated at a wooden desk on a theatre stage, holding a large white quill pen above papers and books. The character has grey-streaked hair, pale stage makeup and wears a dark Victorian-style suit with fingerless gloves. Behind the desk are tall window frames and a brick wall set, lit with cool blue stage lighting, creating the atmosphere of a classic nineteenth-century office or study.
A theatrical stage set inspired by A Christmas Carol. A performer in a long robe and nightcap stands centre stage with arms outstretched, silhouetted against a giant illuminated clock face with Roman numerals. Warm orange and red lighting fills the scene. To one side are tall windows with red curtains, a wooden chair, a lit candle and stacked books. Shadows stretch across the stage floor, creating a dramatic, atmospheric effect.
