Huge congratulations to Professor David Sanders, who has been elected President Elect of the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG)

Professor Sanders' work has improved the lives of thousands of adults living with coeliac disease, both nationally and internationally. His contributions to the development of new approaches to diagnosis, treatment and patient management have influenced clinical practice across the UK and worldwide.

David is also an active Conference Sheffield Ambassador and champions Sheffield as a destination for medical and scientific conferences. He has successfully run the Sheffield Gastroenterology Symposium for many years, now the largest event of its kind in the UK, attracting more than 350 delegates. He also hosts the National Gut Dietitians' Meeting in Sheffield every two years, bringing together specialists from across the country.

Most recently, David successfully hosted the 20th International Coeliac Disease Symposium in Sheffield in September 2024, welcoming more than 600 delegates from around the world. In recognition of his contribution to business events and his role in showcasing Sheffield on the international stage, he was also recognised on the Roll of Honour at the launch of Meet England's Impact Network.

We thank David for his continued support as a Conference Sheffield Ambassador and for the significant contribution he makes to Sheffield's reputation as a leading destination for conferences and events. We look forward to working with him on many more events in the years ahead.
