Huge congratulations to Professor David Sanders, who has been elected President Elect of the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG)

Professor David Sanders has made a major contribution to improving the lives of people living with coeliac disease, both in the UK and internationally, through his work in advancing diagnosis, treatment and patient care. His research and clinical influence have helped shape modern practice in gastroenterology, with impact across national and global healthcare settings. Alongside his clinical and academic work, he plays an important role in promoting Sheffield as a leading centre for medical and scientific conferences. He has been a long-standing Conference Sheffield Ambassador and organiser of the Sheffield Gastroenterology Symposium, now the UK’s largest event of its kind, attracting hundreds of delegates each year. He also hosts the National Gut Dietitians’ Meeting and most recently led the successful 20th International Coeliac Disease Symposium in Sheffield, welcoming an international audience and strengthening the city’s global reputation for major scientific events.
