Acclaimed international artists, including Akala and Dele Sosimi, are coming to Sheffield this week for a brand new festival of cultural immersion,  with SoAfrica Festival taking place at the Crucible Theatre from Friday 26 – Saturday 27 October 2018.

Coordinated by Utopia Theatre, the Spirit of Africa festival will bring together contemporary and traditional music, theatre, poetry and fashion in celebration of the African continent.

Also performing are: Iroko Theatre, Oduduwa Talking Drummers, Aar Maanta, Breis, Nambula and Sheffield’s own K.O.G and the Zongo Brigade, with other music, dance, theatre, film and fashion happening over the weekend.

Over 50% of the festival will be free to attend, with free workshops happening in drumming, writing, dance and storytelling and performances happening throughout the Crucible. There’ll also be the SoAfrica Marketplace available to see the latest in African-inspired fashion, accessories, books and homeware.

There’ll also be opportunities for local artists to showcase their work and talents, attend talks and lectures, network and learn something new.
