Sheffield will be getting a tropical start to the summer this year as Caribbean restaurant and bar Turtle Bay is set to roll into town! The brand will be bringing their trademark jerk spices, sunshine-inspired cocktails and island spirit to the town with a new restaurant opening on 3rd June 2018 located in the old NUM Building on Holly Street.
There has been an £800k investment in the 4,200 sqft site, the transformation of which will reveal a stunning 172 seater restaurant set across two floors – there’ll be 142 on ground floor and a further 30 on a cosy mezzanine floor, which offers great views across to the legendary music venue, Sheffield City Hall.
Located in the former National Union of Miners building, the restaurant is taking over a building that has always been close to the hearts of the people of Sheffield, and its transformation into Turtle Bay will bring some Caribbean warmth and sunshine to ‘Steel City’.
Fifty new local jobs have also been created.
Turtle Bay is all about celebrating the lively, colourful and delicious experiences that the Caribbean has to offer - from rich and explosive flavours to laid back ‘liming’.
Food is at the heart of the Turtle Bay experience – just as it’s central to the heart and soul of Caribbean culture. The restaurant offers a vast choice of delicious dishes with bold flavours all inspired by the laid-back, social outlook of the Caribbean. The menu is meticulously researched and lovingly created.
Turtle Bay’s signature dishes include their famous jerk chicken and curry goat, but there’s plenty for all palates to choose from including a burger menu, salad
selection and a great collection of dishes for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free diners.
The menu includes ‘Cutters’ (inspired by Beach Shacks and Street Hawkers of the Caribbean Islands - perfect for sharing over cocktails); the Jerk BBQ Pit; Curry One Pots (rich, slowly simmered and unique Caribbean curries); a fabulous Lunch menu, and a dreamy desserts collection. This is fuss-free soul food for individuals that love, and live, to eat!
Then there’s the cocktails… The Turtle Bay beach shack bar experience is spectacular, featuring over 40 hand-picked Caribbean rums. The collection includes a diverse range of stunning rums from across the Caribbean (including white, dark, spiced and overproof). These are all used to create classic cocktails with a Turtle Bay tropical twist, as well as a magnificent mix of signature cocktails too. Better still, the whole list of cocktails is available at 241 during Turtle Bay’s happy hour. This lasts from opening to 7pm and then starts up again 10pm till closing time throughout the week.
Turtle Bay creates a flavour of the Caribbean for guests as soon as they walk through the door, transporting guests to sunnier climes. Sheffield diners can expect a vibrant, quirky, beach-shack-inspired ray of sunshine of a restaurant!
Welcoming and sociable, Turtle Bay on Holly Street will have its own bespoke design, making it unique to Sheffield. One of Turtle Bay’s most ambitious transformations, the restaurant will be a contemporary and smart take on the Caribbean, featuring an open street kitchen and an impressive island beach bar.
The restaurant will be opening on 3rd June 2018. Imagery is attached, further images will be available upon launch and more details will be announced during the lead up to the opening.
