Halloween 2017 is nearly upon us and there’s a whole host of ghoulish goings on in Sheffield as a result. Here’s our rundown of the Top 10 events going off in the lead up to the scariest night of the year…

1. Out of this World
Sunday 29 October, across Sheffield City Centre
Back for its fourth year, this free city centre event celebrates all things otherworldly and is for anyone who enjoys sci-fi, comic books, gaming, magic, illusion, Halloween and all things spooky. Spread across the city centre, it attracts thousands of adults and children (many in costume), who come to see and enjoy this weird, wonderful and wacky event. More info...

2. Halloween Spooktacular 
21 October – 5 November at the Tropical Butterfly House
Encounter the exotic and the scary! Don't miss the Tropical Butterfly House's biggest and best event of the year, every weekend in October and daily during the half term. Visit the Witch’s Cottage and the Haunted House, brave the ghoulish tractor trailer ride through the Freaky Forest and come face to face with ghosts and monsters. More info...

3. Live Late Halloween Special: The Horror Within
Friday 27 October at the Millennium Gallery 
Join Museums Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University’s Biomolecular Sciences Research Centre to explore the horror of the human body. Discover the more gruesome side of our physiology, with an evening dedicated to parasites, pandemics, pathogens and umm, poo. Come along in your most hideous medical fancy dress for an evening that will make you squirm. 18+ More info...

4. Halloween Escape Games
Running at The Great Escape Sheffield until 31 October
The Great Escape Sheffield are unleashing two brand new escape experiences for Halloween. The Cracks of Hell Begin and The Gates of Hell will challenge you with merciless riddles to unravel for higher stakes, sinister tricks and scares aplenty. 18+  More info... 

5. Halloween Pumpkin Trail 
27 – 29 October at Renishaw Hall and Gardens
Returning by popular demand, follow the spooky clues around the gardens to find the hidden pumpkins. Watch out for creepy critters and spiders webs Come in fancy dress if you dare! The café will also be serving a host of Halloween treats. More info...

6. Haunted Screenings & Freaky Fun
28, 29 & 31 October at Sheffield General Cemetery
A Halloween experience like no other, with Haunted Screenings in the eerily epic Sheffield General Cemetery. Family friendly showings of Ghostbusters (original) and The Addams Family will be screened in the afternoon. By night experience a haunting torch-lit trail through the cemetery’s sprawling graveyard, followed by a chilling screenings of The Others and The Sixth Sense in the Samuel Worth Chapel.  There’s also a whole bunch of Freaky Fun activities for families in the cemetery on Halloween itself.

7. The Grand Halloween Ball 
Saturday 28 October at Sheffield City Hall
A decadent evening of fun, frolics, and dancing into the early hours! Devilish dancers, madcap magicians, sideshow shenanigans, comedy capers, and ferocious freaks will delight and entertain at this event hosted in Sheffield City Hall's Grand Ballroom. 18+ More info...

8. Halloween Street Food Warehouse
Trafalgar Warehouse, Monday 30 October
There's spooky happenings  afoot at Trafalgar Warehouse as they host a special Halloween edition of their pop-up dining event. Expect some creepy ambience, DJs, craft beers and prosecco bar, alongside a mouth-watering line up of street food from all corners of the globe. More info...

9. Steel City Ghost Tours-  Halloween Special
Monday 30 & Tuesday 31 October, 7.30pm starting outside Sheffield Town Hall
Have you ever wondered what secrets Sheffield holds? Mr P Dreadful will tell you all about the dark past of this otherwise friendly city, telling you of its grim and grizzly secrets. Steel City Ghost Tours have now been telling their unerving tales of the city for over 10 years. More info...

10. Village Screen Halloween Cinema
