Sheffield creates advanced manufacturing links to China's space programme
27 September 2016
The University of Sheffield's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre and the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology (SAST) have recently come to an agreement to launch a new joint research institute.
The Institute will be based in Nanjing (capital of China’s eastern Jiangsu province), with its first cohort of students arriving in September 2017 to start studying for degree programmes in Chemistry, Financial Mathematics and Materials Physics. It seeks to develop PhD collaborations in China as well as joint research initiatives, starting with Green Chemistry.
Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) will work with SAST to develop strong thin-walled structures for commercial rockets.
