Sheffield Business Park has added the 'flat white' to the menu after the arrival of its latest coffee shop, Costa, providing workers' with a place to relax and enjoy their lunch break.

Sheffield Business Park is one of Yorkshire’s largest and most dynamic business parks. Home to the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Siemens, Stanley Black & Decker, ITM Power, HSBC, SIG and Fulcrum, it holds more than 2,000 jobs and lies at the heart of Sheffield City Region’s Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District.

Once completed, the Innovation District will be Europe’s largest research-led Advanced Manufacturing cluster and the first of its kind in the UK. It is centred around the Sheffield-Rotherham corridor, which is already home to the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) and the wider Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) at Waverley.

For the past 50 years, the landscape of innovation has been dominated by places like Silicon Valley – spatially isolated corporate campuses, accessible only by car, with little emphasis on quality of life or on integrating work, housing and recreation.

By contrast, Innovation Districts combine research institutions, innovative firms and business incubators with the benefits of urban living. Unlike traditional science parks, these districts cluster cutting-edge research in geographic areas that are liveable, walkable, bike-able, and transit connected - and amenities like coffee shops are all part of that urban living package.

The new 30-seat Costa is the latest informal meeting place to open aiding collaboration between research and business as well as a place for workers to break away at lunch.

Sheffield Business Park Manager Dawn Kennedy-Burns said: “We are delighted that Costa has chosen to open a new coffee shop within Sheffield Business Centre.

“The arrival of Costa adds to the amenity offer available at Sheffield Business Centre and is a perfect demonstration of its advantages. It is an ideal area to meet and enjoy a great cup of coffee in a modern, warm and welcoming environment and we look forward to receiving existing tenants and occupiers along with our many visitors to the Centre.”
