Sheffield BID is a business- led initiative that delivers activities and projects to create a more vibrant and economically successful city centre, supporting growth across a diverse range of sectors across retail, corporate, leisure and culture, education and public services.
The BID’s investment focuses on achieving higher footfall and city centre vibrancy; easier access and navigation; a safer day-time and night-time economy; a cleaner environment; and a powerful voice for the 500+ businesses that pay into the BID (business improvement district).
The BID is a five-year programme that officially launched after a successful ballot of city centre companies. It became fully operational in October 2015.
Businesses with a rateable value of £40,000 or over and situated within the BID area pay a levy equal to 1% of their rateable value. The monies collected are used to fund projects and services that bring real value to Sheffield City Centre encouraging an increase in visitors and making the city centre a more attractive proposition for the businesses located here.
Find out more about the BID’s work and current projects at www.sheffieldbid.com.
The BID is also responsible for a transformational strategy (Alive After Five) to develop a more vibrant early evening economy. The supporting marketing campaign is driving a joined up offer between retailers, bars, restaurants and leisure providers. Find out more at www.SheffAfter5.com | #SheffAfter5
